One of the new features of 2012 is the ability to customize the screen sized of each form when it opens. This is great since we all have different monitors, fonts, and vision. The easiest way is to go to the Window menu and select Cascade. This will allow you to adjust each form a little easier.
Another enhancement that I love is inside a customers invoice. When you type a partial description, you now need to hit the Enter key instead of the Tab key. This brings up a more enhanced menu.
These minor changes, along with others, were in keeping with the way Microsoft is making their programs and operating systems look and feel. The major benefit to you is that it has enabled us to deliver consultant product order forms automatically (when you are on the premium Product Update Service); develop our Avenue application for the iPhone/iPad (releasing in just a couple of weeks), and then we will be working on an Android application.

We added this awesome new feature and designed it to be as simple as possible. Have you ever had one of those great weeks/months where you’ve held so many parties you can’t even keep all the new customers straight? Now there’s a solution! Take a picture of your new clients after you’ve given them a makeover and when you enter their information into Boulevard (or we do it for you with our Virtual Assistant service), you can add the picture to their profile too! Plus, with such a personal business, it’s nice to have a face in front of you even when making phone calls. Seeing your customer’s smiling face may trigger memories from previous encounters that help you to best service her and suggest the products that meet her needs.
Here are a few tips to help you select the right pictures:
The maximum allowable size for each picture is 600kB. To check the size of a picture, browse to its location on your computer then right-click and select Properties.
If the picture you want to use is too large, you can use image-editing software on your computer (E.g. Microsoft Picture Manager) to compress or reduce the size of the image.
If you intend to use the original picture for anything else (E.g. printing), we suggest making a copy of the picture before cropping or compressing.
Once you have cropped and compressed the picture to Boulevard’s specifications and the image view you would like, you’re ready to upload to Boulevard.
Open the Customer, Recruit, or Address profile.
Click the Main tab.
In the top right section, click the image box.
In the dialog box that appears, navigate to the location on your computer containing the image file you want to add.
Click the image and click the Open button or double-click the image file.
In the Customer Profile, click OK to save.
Boulevard will scale the image to the allowable area in the profile for you.

Anyone whose name appears in your Boulevard software (in either the Customer, Unit, or Address lists) can be added to a Name List in the List Builder. Creating Name Lists simplifies mailing labels, call notes and group email. LuAnn also uses this list to enter the same call note for all recipients of this postcard.
There are many uses for the Boulevard software Address List, from sister consultants, personal and family friends, business contacts, and leads. However, lead management is perhaps the most important facet as this is how you keep growing your Mary Kay business.
Use the 3-strikes-you’re-out rule and make sure leads are removed if they do not prove fruitful. The secondary type of contact can indicate where you met the person or attained their contact information.
Your Boulevard software Help menu has a ton of information on this topic. We suggest checking out the following areas: Uses for the Address List, Adding a new contact, and Edit contact types. Plus, you’ll find more tips in the Boulevard Extras, Volume 2: Customer Follow-up DVD.
Boulevard software has three separate and distinct lists. Each list serves a specific purpose and is designed for a specific type of contact. Boulevard also allows you to move people from list to list based upon their current status.
The Customer List is for anyone who purchases from you.
The Unit List is for personal recruits and anyone on your team. If you are a Director, this can include Adoptees and offspring units.
The Address List is a catchall for everyone else from warm chatter leads to businesses you frequent to other Mary Kay people who are not part of your team or unit. A common scenario is when you meet someone, she becomes a warm chatter lead and is added to your Address List. You may talk with her several times and will input call notes each time. When she books her class or purchases product, she is moved to the Customer List. Her notes are retained. Perhaps she is a happy customer for several years then you recruit her. She is then moved to the Unit List. All of her previous purchases are retained as are call notes and account balance information.
Moving people from list to list when their status changes is the best way to keep your Boulevard software from becoming cluttered with duplicate contacts and erroneous information.
For more information on this topic, you can view the following Help topics: Convert a contact to a customer, Convert a contact to a recruit, Convert a customer to a contact. Use the key word convert.
The three lists in Boulevard software default to sorting by Last/First Name (based on Preferences) and include Next Contact and phone numbers. You can also add or delete columns from each list. For instance, a lot of business is handled electronically now. You can insert Email Address into the Customer List. You might even want to add the Preferred Contact and remove the extra phone numbers. Adding or removing a column allows you to sort by those criteria. Try it yourself. Each list offers different column options to customize your lists. Adding a column to your list is simple. Just right-click on the column header and select Insert Column. Select from one of the many choices. For more information on this topic or directions from Help, press the F1 key once you have the Column Definition dialog open. At any time, you can reset the list(s) back to their default by right clicking on the header and choosing Reset Columns. Adding a column temporarily can be useful when sorting for one particular piece of information. In this case it is easy to reset it back to default so the information in the list remains as useful as possible.

Don’t lose anyone in your Boulevard software again. We know there are times your customer leaves just a first name on your voicemail, doesn’t sign their email, or part of the phone number is cut off in her message. Boulevard makes finding them easy.
Search By Name: Each list in Boulevard allows you to type part of their name to locate. Your lists in Boulevard are alphabetized. Therefore, type the first few letters of the person’s name (First or Last, depending on how your list is sorted). Boulevard will bring you to the closest match alphabetically (e.g., type Smi and Boulevard will bring you to Smith, Smitherton, Smitty, etc.). Select the name by double-clicking.
Search By Phone or Email: Depending upon what phone fields you show in the selected list (Customer, Unit, or Address), you can sort the list by phone number. Then using the same tip from above, type the part of the information you know and voila! Boulevard brings you to the contacts who most closely match the information you provided.
You can also use Boulevard’s Find feature by clicking on the magnifying glass icon located on the right side of your toolbar.
For more information on customizing the view of your Customer, Unit, or Address lists, in your Boulevard Help, search topic: Column Definition. (To locate this help topic, copy and paste the title into the Search selection of Help.)

If you have a really long Customer, Unit, or Address List, is it taking extra time to scroll all the way down for someone whose last name begins later in the alphabet?
No problem! Just quickly type the first few letters of a name and your Boulevard software will bring you closer. Save time finding people with this valuable feature. You can use this feature in the Product List, too!
